Why I Design Parties Differently
Three Years in Business ~ A Lifetime of Working With Children
Before Eat and Be Hoopy became a party and play paradise, working with children was already my life’s work.
I’ve spent my entire adult life studying, observing, and supporting kids ~ not just how they celebrate, but how they move, play, regulate, connect, and feel safe in groups.
For six years, I was a homeschool mom.
I’ve worked as after-school staff.
I’ve been a trusted adult to hundreds of children and families.
I also hold degrees in art and nutrition and certifications in Hula Hooping ~ which deeply shape how I design experiences that honor creativity, energy, and well-being.
So when I opened Eat and Be Hoopy three years ago, I didn’t build parties from trends or checklists. I built them from real experience.
What I’ve Learned After Hundreds of Celebrations
Kids don’t need more stuff.
They need space to move.
Choice.
Connection.
And adults who understand how group energy actually works.
Through years of hosting celebrations, I noticed clear patterns:
• Sensory and movement-based play keeps kids engaged longer
• Free-flow exploration reduces overwhelm and meltdowns
• Shared moments matter more than take-home items
That’s why Eat and Be Hoopy parties are designed differently.
A Party Designed as a Child-Centered Experience
I don’t just plan parties ~ I design environments
Much like an educator designs a classroom, every element of our celebrations is intentional:
• Activities that work across ages
• Flow that supports regulation and excitement
• Space for creativity without pressure
• Structure without rigidity
The goal is never to “fill time.”
The goal is to create a celebration that feels joyful, safe, and easy ~ for kids and parents.
Why Our Parties Feel Easier (and More Fun)
Most party places focus on activities.
I focus on outcomes.
When parties are designed with kids in mind:
• Children stay engaged and confident
• Parents aren’t managing chaos
• The birthday child feels genuinely celebrated
• Families leave feeling connected, not exhausted
That’s the result of testing, observing, and refining what truly works ~ over and over again.
